Tensions in 1852-60 That Led to the Civil War essays Tensions in 1852-60 That Led to the Civil War The conflicts in the United States during the 1850s were numerous and brought the nation closer to civil war each day. These conflicts were mainly caused by the diverging society between the North and the South. The North and the South had different goals. The Norths aggression to control the South had led to the point where it was intolerable. The issue of slavery was one of the causes of the Civil War. Slavery and slave trades had become a big part of the Souths economy. The slaves were needed to work on plantations which helped the South prospered. During the 19th Century, the North worked hard on acquiring free states so that the South would not outnumber them. As the conflict between the North and the South got more intense, the Compromise of 1850 came into the picture to attempt to please both sides. The Compromise included admitting California as a free state and interstate slave trade to be abolished which went in favor of the North. The Compromise also went with the South when it included stricter fugitive slave laws and New Mexico and Utah were created without slave restrictions. The compromises seemed to have settled the issue of slavery but it was just putting back the problem. The North and the South were far from settling the slave issue. The Fugitive Slave Act was part of the group of laws referred to as the Compromise of 1850. In this compromise, the North gained the admission of California as a free state, and the prohibition of slave trading in the District of Columbia. The slavery party received concessions with regard to slaveholding in Texas and the passage of this law. Passage of this law was so hated by abolitionists, however, that its existence played a role in the end of slavery a little more than a dozen years later. Sea Anemone essays The sea anemone is a coelenterate. They are a member of order Actinaria. They are in class Anthozoa. And, they are in phylum Cnidara.It is an invertebrate. Anemone have no heart, veins,blood bones, no means of locomotion, it has one body opening, it is a hollow sac, and it has a nervous system. It has long tentacles . It has a hollow mouth. It resembles a flower because the tentacles create a ring around the mouth opening making it look like petals. They come in beautiful colors. Anemone are shaped like a cylinder. Anemone are jelly-like organisms. Sea anemones look like lumps of jelly after the tide comes in. They could grow up to five feet in diameter( or 1.5 meters). Anemones have thick,but slender bodies. They have hundreds of tentacles. Anemone are covered in cilia (really small hairs that are about 0.1 by two micrometers [0.000004 by 0.00008 of an inch]).Some sea anemone vary in size from a few millimeters. While others are usually 1.5 meters( about five feet) in diameter. At the end of the stalk, there is a smooth, muscular disk. The disk helps the anemone to move. Sea anemone live in a marine climate. Most of them float in the Pacific ocean. Other anemone live on rocks. All anemone live in tide pools. Most of them stay in one place. While others stay in shallow water and deeper waters. Some of them burrow. Anemones usually stay in one place. One way they move is they use their tentacles to propel themselves .But sometimes they somersault if they live in shallow water. The Impact of Fruit Juices on the Dental Erosion in Human Tooth Enamel - Research Paper Example This literature review explores the impact of fruit juices on dental health as well as the factors causing dental erosion. It also explores various investigations which are helpful in the detection and prediction of dental erosion. Considering the issue to be of paramount significance the present study has been carried out. Objectives: Human tooth is composed of minerals, organic matter as well as water with variation in the thickness, blood and nerve supply; therefore an irreversible alteration of mineralization is frequent. Consumption of soft drinks directly influences enamel of the teeth. The present study is conducted to review various factors which play an imperative role in dental erosion and the techniques for investigating the erosion of enamel. Methodology: Direct and indirect methods were adopted to study the dental erosion. Measurement of weight loss was performed with/ without stirring with magnetic rods, up to 300 revolutions per minute. Further micro-indentation, nano- indentation, profilometry, micro-radiography, chemical analysis techniques were adopted followed by microscopy. Result: Dental erosion examined with three fruit juices namely lemon, orange and apple, shows that prolonged consumption of orange juice leads to more severe dental erosion in babies as compared to adults. Conclusion: Phosphoric acid, hydrochloric acid, citric acid, malic acid and tartaric acid present in the fruit juices alter the pH of the enamel leading to its erosion. Fruit juices are known to cause chelation with calcium further, contributing to dental erosion. Aim of the project This project aims to find the impact of one such consumable substance i.e. fruit juice on teeth enamel and dentine of both children and adults. Also, this project provides background information of human teeth and information about dental erosion including the factors which affect erosion. Consumption of soft drinks directly influences enamel at the borders of teeth. It is imperative to understand the factors contributing to the dental erosion in adults as well as in babies. With this motive, the present study was carried out utilizing various modern techniques for investigation to safeguard individuals form witnessing dental erosions.
